El Sol y La Luna began yesterday. That's what it seems like. The actual year was 1995. The space had once been a motel coffee shop. The terrazzo tile and counter seating are vintage. The old place probably didn't hang original artwork or have suns and moons painted on the floor, and it surely didn't have music playing most weekends. But the spirit of old Austin still comes through, melded nicely with the Austin that came about during the era of Janis Joplin and the Armadillo World Headquarters that launched what has become one of America's most vibrant and innovative and yet traditional music scenes.

About ten years ago, from that humble little coffe shop arose our own vibrant, innovative and yet traditional idea: El Sol y La Luna. It's been a legacy of love for food, our restaurant family, and our community. Here, flavors prevail, dramatic and subtle. Friendships grow. Artwork is discovered. Music resonates and dancing flourishes.

When you come in, you'll likely meet owners Nilda and Anna. And you're sure to make friends, as well as gain a new tradition: great meals at El Sol y La Luna.

Welcome!
